Youth Leadership Program by Crystal TMC

Dear Crystal Ladies,

YLP, our biggest event of the year is coming to town soooooooooooooon...........Nov 20 & 21, 2010.

Youth Leadership Program is part of our community progams aimed at children aged 13-17 years old.

YLP helps them to build their communicationa and leadership skills so they may become tomrrow's leaders in business, industry and community.

The YLP is conducted by members of Crystal Toastmasters Club and assistance from other TM clubs.

Unlike public speaking program offered by training companies, our YLP is facilitated by a group of trainers and mentors from TM.

This is a good opportunity for you to strengthen your communication and leadership skills. You can play role in YLP as speaker, sub cordinator, mentor, facilitor etc.

Emily Bong, the key co-ordinator shall be contacting you soon to find you a role for this biggest event of the year. By participating not only you have self development, you are also contributing by making this a successful event to Crystal TM.

I also attached a copy of the YLP flyer. You may distribute this flyer to your friends, neighbours, colleagues and anyone who you know that you want them to be benefited from this program.

Also, if you know of any TM friends, have them to help to circulate to their clubs too.

Let's develop tomorrow leaders through Crystal's YLP !

Leadership Effectiveness Workshop

We all join Toastmasters to become better public speakers, but a lot of us forget that the Toastmasters vision has two parts – ‘improve their communication and leadership skills’ – we focus on communication and vaguely recall, or overlook leadership.
This mini-workshop is intended for Toastmasters, both new and experienced, who want to have an overview of learning aspects other than project speeches. It’s for all the Toastmasters who ever cried out:

• What’s the Competent Leader programme?
• What does it mean to be an Advanced Leader?
• How do I become a DTM?
• How can I share my skills and experiences in Toastmasters with baby Clubs?
• Why can’t I just stick to my project speeches?
To make things easier for you all, you can even purchase and enquire more about this workshop through Facebook, Here's the link :

The Highlights of the Division B Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contest

25 September 2010, all the effort of Division B Council Members in organizing Division B Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contest had finally materialized at 2.00pm, Kolej Putra Interlek, Puchong. Hooray!!!!

Despite the wet, rainy afternoon, the ambient in Division B Humorous Speech & Evaluation contest was warmth by the arrival of our District Governor, L. Thannimalai DTM, Immediate Past District Governor Ritchie Chong DTM, Division C Governor NK Valliiammai ACG CL, Division W Governor Vincent Hor DTM, Division M Governor Koh Siew Keng CC ALB, District Club Extension Chair Francis Ng DTM, District Club Cloach Chair Sue Ding DTM, District Pidato Coordinator Zaharah Ibrahim DTM and most importantly, all the distinguished audience, near and far, that came to support the contestants.

The whole afternoon started with our stylish Toastmasters Of The Day, G. Sivalingam DTM leading all of us into the exciting Humorous Speech Contest chaired by Christine Lum, followed by Evaluation Speech Contest chaired by Johnson Yike.

In the Humorous Speech Contest, all the five contestants never failed to tickle our funny bones; the audience never stop laughing all the way from the Korean Drama, how Toastmasters transformed into Transformers, the precious Children Sex Education story, the mother-in-law lessons and the ‘stinky’ but ‘unbelievable’ Yunnan trip experience. The judges and audience laughed so much and they decided all of them should be winners. However, being in the contests, they have to choose three winners. Congratulations to the Humorous Speech Contest Winners!! They are:

Champion:
Anna Chin (Phoenix Toastmasters Club)

1st Runner-up:
Muhammad Syafiq Abdullah (Lafarge Toastmasters Club)

2nd Runner-up:
Emil Anthony (MAS Mawar Toastmasters Club)

After a short break, Evaluation Contest Chair, Johnson led us through another exciting roller coaster ride. The appearance of the five contestants set a very serious mood among the audience, everyone was patiently and attentively listening to our contestants one after another, listening to the five ‘Evaluation Kung Fu Master’, eager to learn a skill or two of their ‘Evaluation Kung Fu’. After the tough decision by the judges, the ‘Master of The Master’ in Division B Evaluation Contest was born:

Champion:
Bernard Louis (D’ Utama Advance Toastmasters Club)

1st Runner-up:
Victor Ong Ching Poh (Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club)

2nd Runner-up:

Phew!! After two exciting roller coaster rides, our most respected, Simple and Humble Division Governor, Thannimalai DTM shared with us how Toastmasters come together as a family by each and everyone of us extent our helping hands to one another and make a WONDERFUL TOASTMASTRERS JOURNEY! The whole event ended with high note from our dearest Division B Governor Irene Lee and not forgetting to remind us that our journey will continue and the big family of Division B will meet up again in TLI 2 on 4th December 2010.
